First Passport

First passport and birth registration – children born in France – parents have French residency cards

  • Child’s birth certificate (not older than 2 months)

  • Parents’ passports

  • Parents’ residence cards (récépissé or attestation if the card has expired)

  • Parents’ marriage certificate

    • If the marriage was registered in France, the certificate must not be older than 2 months

    • If the marriage took place in India, the Indian marriage certificate is accepted (no translation required)

  • Utility bill in the parents’ name (water, gas, EDF, FREE, SFR, ORANGE)

  • Parents’ récépissé, attestation, or appointment proof (if the residence application process has been started)

  • Parents’ marriage certificate

    • If the marriage was registered in France (Mairie), both certificates must not be older than 2 months

    • If the marriage took place in India, the Indian marriage certificate is accepted (no translation required)

  • Utility bill in the parents’ name (water, gas, EDF, FREE, SFR, ORANGE)

  • If any family member currently holds or previously held residence documents from another European country, those documents must also be provided

  • Copy of the Schengen visa used when the parents entered Europe for the first time
    (If the passport was never issued in France before, the embassy will not accept the passport application file without a copy of the visa.)

Passport renewal

Passport renewal – for applicants with valid residency card

  • Passport

  • Residence card (récépissé or attestation if the card has expired)

  • Utility bill in the passport holder’s name (water, gas, EDF, FREE, SFR, ORANGE)

  • If the applicant has completed education up to 10th grade or higher, a copy of any certificate from 10th grade or above

Passport renewal – for applicants without residency card

  • Passport

  • Utility bill in the passport holder’s name (water, gas, EDF, FREE, SFR, ORANGE)

  • If the applicant has completed education up to 10th grade or higher, a copy of any certificate from 10th grade or above

  • Last 3 bank statements

  • Tax documents for the last 3 years (Impôt)

  • Medical card (Aide Médicale; if you have a Carte Vitale, provide the attestation)

  • Copy of the visa used when you first entered Europe
    (If your passport has never been issued in France before, the embassy will not accept the passport application file without a copy of the visa.)

  • If any family member currently holds or previously held residence documents from another European country, those documents must also be provided
